Trick or Treat

Eric, Kaleb and me with my niece Madeline. Madeline and I attempted to walk through the haunted house - but it was a failed attempt. It was "too FREAKY" as she put it. :)

Fun-filled fall

What a beautiful fall we've had this year - and how jam-packed it's been. A few visits home to Sheridan to can tomatoes and peaches with my mom - and Kaleb loves to sport an apron. Don't tell daddy. I secretly want him to be the next Bobby Flay. Too much Food Network for me. I digress.

Kaleb got his first ride on a horse (as nervous mommy watched) and loved every moment of it. He knows exactly what sounds horses make and loves to make his lips work like a horse. He has a rocking horse at home and can't get on it without putting his cowboy hat on.

October started off with a blast, and a big birthday bash for Eric - as he turned FORTY! We filled our house with twenty-some adults and lots of kids. It was a good celebration with family and friends. The party wasn't complete without a bottle of Nioxin for hair loss and some gag gifts, but I must admit the friends were a lot nicer than I anticipated with their gifts. We have such wonderful friends :) We rounded out October with pumpkin carving, trick or treating at the college and a birthday celebration for me at Lydias. Kaleb really started to understand the candy part of trick or treating - and he didn't lack in candy, that's for sure.

We've been very blessed with finding a church-home finally and it feels really good to be back in fellowship. We've also joined a home group and I am co-leading a women's group for mommy's with pre-school aged children. We're doing a study group on the book "The Power of a Positive Mom" by Karol Ladd. It's compelling, convicting and teaching me so much about being not just a mom, but a positive, impactful spirit led mom. It's been a wonderful book and the group of women are encouraging and fun.

As Thanksgiving nears we are looking forward to Eric's flagship project being completed and the launch of his new re-structured business - Diggstown Project Management. For your viewing enjoyment, please check out his new website (which I designed) at www.diggstownconstruction.com which will be up and running by November 7th.

Summer Speeds By

July is blowing by so quickly. It's been a fantastic month! The weather has been great and we've done some fun things. Our camping trip over the 4th kicked off July, followed by a quick trip to Valley City, ND to Eric's family reunion - making it back just in time for me to play in a softball game that evening. Speaking of softball.... that has also been a big part of our summer with games every Monday and Wednesday night - leaving the boys to fend for themselves while I play. This week's tournament will wrap up women's softball for the summer and I'm so bummed. It's been great playing sport again - and in addition - a wonderful social outlet!

Eric also managed to scale Torrey Mountain (see picture below) with his friend Blaine, while Kaleb and I and our company hung out with the kids. It was so fun seeing old friends and getting to spend time together.

August will be here before we can blink and we have lots on the calendar to keep us busy. Stay tuned....

New Heights

Eric accomplished a long climb to the top of Torrey Mountain - 11,147 ft - on Saturday, July 19th

Cold Treats

It might taste different if he turned it around - oh what fun to eat a popsicle on a hot summer day with friend Aidan.

Field Trip

Kaleb walks down the trail from the charcoal kilns

Montana History

Charcoal kilns located up Camp Creek (near Melrose, MT). Kilns were used in the 1890's for slowly burning wood to make charcoal to fire the smelter for the silver ore mining in the area. Very fascinating day trip & learning of the area's history is very cool!

Old Times

Playing dress up is fun for all ages!
Taken in Virginia City

Oh What Fun...

Camping over the 4th of July up Mill Creek in the Tobacco Roots was a blast for all of us. Kaleb's first camping adventure proved to be a big hit and by the end of each day I was wiping layers of dirt off him. He played so hard around camp. We took a ride up to Branahm Lakes in Gramma and Papa's jeep, but couldn't break through the last 200 feet through the deep snow banks. It was beautiful with all the wildflowers in bloom even though we didn't get to see the high lakes.
Eric took a hike and saw lots of sign of bear. We played lots of washers and the winners (Eric and my dad) boasted about their triumph for hours.
Sunday we headed down the mountain and up to Virginia City to play toursists for the afternoon. He saw the restored and operating steam engine traveling from Virginia City to Nevada City and hit the candy store. We also got an old time family photo taken. See the picture of the picture for a good laugh!! Notice the pistol Kaleb is holding.

Erock's project

E-rock's job in the Big Hole Valley. Project looks pretty small in comparison to the mountains, but trust me, it's not!
